About the movie

At the age of 99, David Attenborough delivers what may be his final cinematic gift to the world with Ocean—a stunning and urgent documentary about life beneath the waves, and the threats it faces. Without preaching, but with a clear and firm tone, he addresses the impact of industrial fishing, accompanied by unforgettable imagery. Hopefully, OCEAN will spark a revolution similar to the one his Blue Planet II series triggered eight years ago regarding plastic pollution.

Breathtaking, immersive visuals reveal the wonders of underwater life and expose the realities and challenges our oceans face in ways never seen before—from destructive fishing techniques to the widespread bleaching of coral reefs. A film that is both alarming and hopeful.

About the Dish

Vegan seaweed risotto with grilled and briny vegetables. Especially for this film, our chef Lennard has created a dish that does not burden the ocean. Instead of using fish or shellfish—which often lead to overfishing, bycatch, and damage to the ecosystem—we use seaweed.

Seaweed:

  • Can be sustainably farmed without the need for farmland or fresh water

  • Absorbs CO₂ and improves water quality

  • Grows quickly and does not harm marine life

A way to bring the flavors of the ocean to your plate, without exploiting sea life.
