In Parthenope, Paolo Sorrentino (La Grande Bellezza, Youth) pays homage to his hometown of Naples, capturing its soul and beauty through painterly imagery that brings Italy to life. The film is a feast for the senses, starring Celeste Dalla Porta in the title role and featuring Gary Oldman in an unforgettable supporting performance.
Parthenope tells the story of a woman named after the legendary siren who once dwelled in the Gulf of Naples. From her birth in 1950 to the present day, she is a mesmerizing presence. The film explores her passionate love for freedom, her city of Naples in all its facets, and the men who cross her path. While these men are consumed by their desires, Parthenope embarks on a journey to find her own happiness. But where does her future lie?
