Hair – Thursday, April 17th
Hair is a celebration of freedom, love, and the human spirit. A film that sparked much discussion, it serves as a tribute to the spirit of the 1960s. Brilliantly reimagined by Oscar-winning director Miloš Forman and screenwriter Michael Weller (Ragtime), this vibrant film adaptation of the Broadway phenomenon ranks among the greatest movie musicals of all time.
John Savage stars as Claude, a quiet young man from the Midwest who befriends a group of New York hippies. They oppose the Vietnam War and rebel against the suffocating grip of society. The group fights for peace, love, and above all, absolute freedom. But in a life without laws, rules, taboos, or even clothes—while war looms ever closer—can they truly realize their ideals?
The film features the most iconic songs from the original stage production, including the smash hits Aquarius (“Aquarius! Aquarius!”), Good Morning Starshine (“gliddy glub gloopy – nibby nabby noopy”), and Let the Sunshine In (“that’s me, that’s me, that’s me”).
