Films about filmmaking often seem indulgent, but Oscar-winner Michel Hazanavicius (‘The Artist’, ‘OSS 117’) nails it with this hilarious re-make of the Japanese cult zombie film ‘One Cut of the Dead.’ In an abandoned building, frantic director Rémi Bouillon (Romain Duris) is shooting a low-budget zombie horror movie that quickly gets completely out of hand. And when it turns out that Bouillon has unleashed an ancient zombie curse to give the film more authenticity—leading to a ‘real’ zombie attack—the madness is complete: in a chaotic single shot with body parts and blood spatter flying around, the cast has to fight off both the zombies and their aggressive director.
