About the Film The Grill is a bustling eatery in Times Square where, on an ordinary Friday, thousands of guests are served. Among the kitchen staff, dreams and despair intertwine as each tries to pursue the elusive American Dream. Life in this high-pressure environment is intense and demanding, with the constant need for perfection.

One day, when money goes missing from the register, suspicion falls on Pedro (Raúl Briones), a young Mexican cook. Pedro is in a tumultuous relationship with Julia (Rooney Mara), an American waitress struggling with her own obligations. When Pedro learns that Julia is considering an abortion, his world begins to crumble. Shocking revelations and relentless work pressure push him to a breaking point, disrupting the carefully orchestrated rhythm of the kitchen.

La Cocina is a gripping, socially realistic drama and a tribute to the invisible heroes of the kitchen. Mexican director Alonso Ruizpalacios masterfully brings the chaos of a New York kitchen to life while exposing the harsh realities faced by migrant workers. Starring Rooney Mara and Raúl Briones, La Cocina is based on Arnold Wesker's 1957 play The Kitchen and premiered this past spring at the Berlin Film Festival, where it received a warm welcome from international critics.
