Ghost Trail

Hamid is a member of an underground organisation spread across Europe that tracks down fugitive war criminals from the Syrian government. Hamid lost his wife and young daughter and was once tortured in the notorious Sednaya prison near Damascus, which makes him personally involved. Now that he is in Strasbourg, the determined Syrian believes he has found the man who tortured him. But is this really the culprit he is looking for or does Hamid just want to catch a killer at all costs? Told entirely from the protagonist's perspective, Ghost Trail takes your breath away and keeps you in constant doubt. Millet's background as a documentary filmmaker comes through in the film's confident minimalism. Instead of fixating on high-tech gadgets or shocking plot twists, the film focuses on Hamid's psyche as he balances between revenge and justice. After all, Hamid is not a spy but a traumatised and grieving man. The lead role is played subtly and with deeply felt emotion by Adam Bessa, who can be seen in almost every scene.
