Description

Hot-blooded clay animation about eight-year-old Mary who is bullied at school. Full of successful visual and ingenious word jokes. In this clay animation, eight-year-old Mary (voice Toni Collette) is bullied at school. She has no friends, and so writes from Australia to a random person in the United States. Max (voice Philip Seymour Hoffman), who suffers from Asperger's syndrome, is 44 and cannot make friends in a normal way, but starts a special pen friendship with her anyway. The film is full of successful visual gags and ingenious word jokes. Despite its claymation, it is a touching human ode to friendship. Director Adam Elliot received an Oscar in 2003 for his short clay animation Harvie Krumpet and was also nominated again for his amazing new film Memoir of a Snail.
