The barebones of a plot summary given above, while accurate, gives no hint of what you are in for with Shinzo Katayama’s mind-blowing sophomore outing as a director. Knowing that Shinzo was a former assistant to Bong Joon-ho (Parasite) might give you an idea as to the plot reversals, extremely inventive mise en scene, and the sheer audacity of the story Shinzo tells. Prepare yourself for one helluva ride wherein the gasps come fast and furious because Missing is, without a doubt, the most stylish and imaginative thriller of the year. And what an ending!
