Description

80-year-old Marie is tired of her illness and makes a drastic decision: she wants to say goodbye to life with dignity in Switzerland. But she doesn’t dare tell her son and granddaughter. Instead, she makes up a story about a hidden inheritance in a Swiss bank and suggests they go on a trip together. Her new nurse, Rudy, is reluctantly dragged into her plan. What begins as a little white lie turns into a remarkable road trip. Baroux dedicated the film to her grandmother, who endured her suffering to the bitter end because assisted dying was prohibited in France. In the meantime, reality has caught up with the film. Since the end of May this year, a change in legislation now allows assisted dying in cases of unbearable suffering. But even if the story of On ira may now be formally outdated, the film ultimately revolves around more essential matters: loving, but also daring to speak the truth; embracing — and learning to let go.
