Description

Ali and his wife Aysel live in a small village, surrounded by a large lake and sprawling reed fields. They work doggedly to make ends meet. On top of that, they are exploited and abused by mafia bosses. Ali searches for ways to escape the misery and makes an attempt to smuggle reeds. It’s a risky venture and not without danger. The landscapes of water and reeds are filmed spectacularly. They make the environment as important as the characters. The reed fields, through the exceptional camerawork, become a labyrinthine, claustrophobic and suffocating persona in the relentless battle between good and evil, with the boundary between them growing ever more indistinct.
