Description

The myth of Undine—a water sprite who can become human if loved by a man, but who must kill that man should he betray her—is given contemporary form in Christian Petzold’s (‘Transit’) mysterious romance. Paula Beer is the eponymous heroine, here a lecturer specialising in urban planning, who, after being dumped by one man, falls in love with another, an industrial diver named Christophe (Franz Rogowski). All seems to be going swimmingly (so to speak), except that Undine’s otherworldly charms may be just that—from another world…

‘An odd new beauty from one of Germany's best directors… Petzold has reunited his stars from “Transit,” the charismatic Paula Beer and Franz Rogowski, and gives them the love story they deserve—not necessarily an epic one, but one that’s heartfelt and profound in all its simplicity… Beer and Rogowski are so good, and have such amazing chemistry, that it’s hard to look away or not root for them to be together.’—Boyd van Hoeij, Hollywood Reporter
