The films of one of Japan’s greatest filmmakers, Akira Kurosawa, are finally returning to the big screen after more than 30 years. This 4K restoration of Kurosawa’s visually stunning and darkly comedic Yojimbo — starring the incomparable Toshiro Mifune — was highly influential and changed the Western genre forever. The samurai Sanjuro arrives in a small 19th-century Japanese village, only to find it torn apart by two rival gang leaders. He decides to play both sides against each other. But his plan is complicated by the arrival of Unosuke, the son of one of the gangsters — and the owner of a revolver.
