During the corona pandemic, Opera Zuid, in co-production with the Nederlandse Reisopera and De Nationale Opera, performed the opera L’elisir d’Amore by the Italian composer Donizetti. A premiere with a young, talented cast from the National Opera Studio. After one live stream, this high-quality registration remained on the shelf. Until now. Music Film Festival shows this special opera performance on the big screen, with optimal sound and introduced and commented on by two main actors: director Marcos Darbyshire and singer/bass Sam Carl.
The story: a sweltering summer evening in Italy. The air is full of the palpable romantic tension between Adina and Nemorino. But they are not alone. A group of friends puts their relationships and social status under strain. By dawn they are no longer the people they were.
