Live Music & Movies: David Bowie | Thursday, June 29th

The music festival season is in full swing, and Cinecitta doesn’t want to be left behind. On Thursday, June 29th, we will be hosting a special David Bowie film night with live music.

During Live Music & Movies, Rias Baarda, the frontman of Starman – The Dutch David Bowie Tribute band, will perform live. Following the live performance, we will screen the audiovisual space journey, Moonage Daydream. This film features rare concert footage of David Bowie that has never been shown before.

Rias Baarda’s voice, looks, and stage presence are eerily close to David Bowie. It’s a must-see for die-hard Bowie fans as well as those who are not familiar with his repertoire!

Rias Baarda (known for “Het Bowie Concert 2022” at Martiniplaza, AFAS, Mainstage Brabanthallen, and Ahoy) has performed with his band members on various stages, including Paaspop and the Gentse Feesten. The band was also featured on the TV show ‘The Tribute – Battle of the Bands,’ where they impressed both the jury and the audience with their powerful and emotionally charged renditions of Bowie’s greatest hits. After the start of the TV program, the band performed three nights at a sold-out Ziggo Dome.

Moonage Daydream

Moonage Daydream is a captivating documentary by the Oscar-nominated filmmaker Brett Morgen. The film features never-before-seen concert footage and takes audiences on an audiovisual journey through the enigmatic legacy of David Bowie. It serves not only as a tribute to Bowie but also as a guide to living a meaningful and fulfilling life in the 21st century. Moonage Daydream is more than just a documentary—it is a genre-defying cinematic experience centered around one of the most iconic and globally renowned rock stars of all time. The film has received the full approval of Bowie’s estate and includes many of his greatest songs, along with previously unreleased concert footage.

The program on Thursday, June 29th is as follows:
– 20:30 to 20:50: Live performance by Rias Baarda, frontman of Starman – The David Bowie Tribute.
– 20:50 to 23:35: Screening of the film Moonage Daydream.
