The beautiful, young Jeanne is searching for an apartment in Paris. During her search, she meets the mysterious American Paul, who is grieving the suicide of his wife. Despite the circumstances, he is attracted to Jeanne and begins a passionate, sexual relationship with her. They know very little about each other, not even their names. How long can this love last?
Expectations for the Italian-French production were high, mainly because Hollywood star Marlon Brando had shone earlier that year (1972) in The Godfather.
