Description

In David Lowery’s epic fantasy set in the mythical times of King Arthur, Sir Gawain (‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star Dev Patel) is sent by his uncle the king (Sean Harris) to confront The Green Knight, a monstrous emerald knight who has brought many a hero to his knees. To do so, he must overcome various obstacles, while supernatural powers seem to threaten him at every turn on his journey. This makes the adventure even more crucial for young Gawain to prove himself, uphold the honour of his family, and earn his place among the other knights of the round table.

For his successor to ‘The Old Man & The Gun’, Lowery does a complete about face in genre and subject. This is not the typical adaptation of an ancient English chivalric novel, but a decidedly adult take on classic material. Led by Patel and the striking Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), the cast revels in a strong script (also by Lowery) that elevates the events to the level of sublime myth.
