Hélène (Vicky Krieps, ‘Phantom Thread’), 33, has been living happily with Mathieu (the late Gaspard Ulliel) in Bordeaux for years. Their deep bond has been put to the test since Hélène was diagnosed with a rare lung disease. While she has given up hope for a cure, Mathieu is convinced that a lung transplant can turn the tide. In search of answers, Hélène comes across a Norwegian blogger who is seriously ill and describes his situation with humour. On a whim, she travels to the Far North to meet him… ‘Plus que jamais’ is an intimate and moving story about love, letting go, and the freedom to make your own choices. Director Emily Atef’s drama was praised at Cannes for its visually impressive images and the strong interplay of Krieps and Ulliel. For the actor, who died in January after a skiing accident, it was his last film role.
