Description

After receiving a royal visit from the King and Queen of Great Britain, the Crawley family now prepares for a new adventure: a vacation to the Dowager Countess’ (Dame Maggie Smith) residence in the south of France. The Countess of Grantham has come into possession of a spacious villa, which she inherited thanks to an old childhood sweetheart. The Crawleys’ visit to France will, of course, guarantee the necessary drama. In addition, ‘Downton’ creator and Academy Award®-winner Julian Fellowes has gone on record as describing the goings-on as ‘unashamedly feel-good’. The beloved cast from the series and first film—Smith as the Countess, Hugh Bonneville as Robert Crawley, Jim Carter as Mr Carson, Laura Carmichael as Lady Edith Crawley, Michelle Dockery as Mary Crawley, Elizabeth McGovern as the Countess of Grantham, Sophie McShera as Daisy, and Lesley Nichol as Mrs Patmore—are all here, and new cast members include Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, and Dominic West. ‘Downton Abbey: A New Era’ is directed by Simon Curtis of ‘My Week with Marilyn’ fame.
