More than Film: Dr Nosa Imaghodo
For this edition, International Center invited Dr Nosa Imaghodo to give a talk about his expertise. He is a lecturer in the Academic Core and Social Sciences departments at Amsterdam University College. He teaches Advanced Research Writing, Global Identity Experience and Race, Class and Gender Intersectionality. Nosa is also a tutor (academic advisor) and assessor for Community Projects and Internships. Nosa holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Essex, a Master’s degree in Social Research Methods from the University of Surrey and another Master’s degree in Politics from The University of Hull. His PhD focused on the solutions to structural inequalities by assessing the perspectives of black British activists who take differing stances and employ varying strategies in deliberating and putting into action ways to eradicate structural racism in Britain.
The film Get Out (Jordan Peele) won over 150 prizes, amongst which the Oscar for best original script. The film combines racial critique with thrilling tensions. The plot involves Chris, an African-American man, who decides to visit his Caucasian girlfriend’s parents during a weekend getaway. Although they seem normal at first, he is not prepared to experience the horrors ahead.
Films Accesible to all
This event is organized by International Center Tilburg in collaboration with Cinecitta. Both want to provide cinema to internationals living in Tilburg. Therefore, we the entire program will be in English and films will have English subtitles (or will be English spoken). Cinecitta is even providing a budget to organize extra activities!
